[OM] IS-3 and IS-3000 not identical cameras?

Subject: [OM] IS-3 and IS-3000 not identical cameras?

There is a small discussion in rec.photo.equipment.35mm about IS-3/IS-3000, and
this morning I got a mail from someone that says that they are not identical
cameras. The difference he says is that IS-3 does not have multi flash or high
speed strobe flash effect capability with the G40 flash. Perhaps someone who
owns an IS-3/G40 combo could verify this. My G40 manual only says that it can
fitted to IS-1/IS-1000, and that´s probably because the G40 was released about
the same time as IS-1/IS-1000 in the late 80´s. I´ve never read or heard about
any difference and I really can´t see a reason why they shouldn´t be completely
identical, and that´s why I am a bit puzzled.
