The input from all of you on this thread has convinced me to stay with my
Manfrotto 055CB (the same as Bogen 3021) and find a solution for the
interference problem. Maybe PVC (thanks Peter), Kirk at
http://www.kirkphoto.com/products.html also has hex-plates that seem to have
a somewhat adjustable thread (at least from the pictures on the web)
although prices are (help!) silly. Denton, I'm really surprised your Gitzo
carbonfiber were not as good as your Bogen!
