Amateur Photographer (UK) reports the development of a drop in cartridge
which will convert ANY 35mm camera into a 1.3 million pixel digital camera
The cartridge includes a thin CMOS sensor which sits in front of the
camera's pressure plate. Pictures are taken in the normal way, using the
full range of lenses, and are downloaded by slotting the end of the
cartridge into a PCM-CIA port. 30 images can be captured at any one time.
The cartridge can be removed and normal film used.
The magazine reports that no working model is available for inspection yet
but the manufacturer, Imagek, is confident that it will be on sale in the
summer at around $1000.
