Judging from the OM-1 circuit diagram, I'd say that a 1.5 volt cell
would probably not damage anything. Unfortunately the diagram I have
does not state component values. The metering will definitely be offset,
but the amount will depend on the properties of the battery and maybe
even the light level.

It might work. I would probably give it a try myself, if mercury cells
becomes unavailable. But I think I'd buy adapters for my Lunasix 3...

Anyway an adapter is the safe path. Try 1.5 volt cells at your own risk.
