I fully concur with Ulf on the 2-4 - absolutely the best value for
money upgrade you can do IMO.

For me, apart from making everything brighter in the viewfinder, more
fine grain detail is visible in subjects which combines with the
brightness to make focusing easier.

Using the same setup as Ulf, I have been astounded at the difference
the 2-4 makes.

I would like to put in a plug for its use with fast lenses also. I
wish I had had mine when I did a shoot at a wedding when the guests
were ouside in very dim lighting. Focusing was very difficult, even
with a 50mm f1.2. The 50mm f1.2 + 2-4 is a dream combination as the
viewfinder is nearly as bright as viewing the subject directly.

I am puzzled that I have not seen anyone else comment on how out of
focus images on the 2-4 are patterned and sort of shimmer if the
camera is moved and that this dissapears as the image is brought into
focus. The effect is hard to describe but is akin to a microprism
collar, though the 'snap into focus' effect is less pronounced.
