Thanks for the comments.  Turkish airlines allows for up to 100 Wh units and 2 per
person.  That is probably too much weight to justify it.  Cam batteries are more
efficient as don't lose the 30 ish % to heat but phones, tracker etc should have a back-up.
Not sure how much.

First, observations. Just returned from flying to and from UK on British Air. The airlines must depend on the security screeners plus harangues about what's OK. I imagine that varies with country, airport and airline, but guess that most power banks are simply unknown to the airline. What would the screeners do? Warn airlines by passenger name? Confiscate power banks over some size, depending on a list of which are OK with which airline? Can the screeners identify power banks? A practical nightmare.

On our trip back, we scored a fab deal on business class. No underseat storage there. Attendant casually tossed bag containing a power bank into the overhead bin for take-off; so much for that rule.

I have carried a small, 6700 mAh, power bank in my underseat bag for years. Don't really need it anymore, just cords for the power outlets on the plane these days. My carry on bags just flew through the x-rays.

2. I have a 99.1 Wh RavPower I've never really used. Bought for 2017 Bhutan trip, not needed in the field. Still showed close to full and just changed up. Free for shipping.

3. Have you checked with the guides/places you will be staying to see if they
have basic power?

4. and a bit off topic. Just returned from the second overseas trip where I never used my OM battery charger. First was the 66 days in UK and Morocco. Now 17 days in England and Scotland; never even got it out of the bag. I carry a 7 port, 110/220v USB charger. One 100W port for computer, the rest for phones, iPads, cameras, hearing aids, etc. That's always been enough to charge batteries in the camera bodies.
Using electronic shutter, those batteries seem to last forever.
