Nice festive shot. I wonder if a touch of fill flash would improve the WB on
you and Carol w/o disrupting the ambiance?
I suspect that idea was a no go for Dr. No Flash.
It would require me to have a flash, which I never do. I prefer LED continuous light to flash, but don't carry that
around, anyway. Maybe back a few years ago, when I was shooting a GX9, pop-up little flash, with E-M1 II, but I
probably wouldn't think of it.
Not a planned shot. I'd just helped a few groups by offering to take their pix with their phones under that trellis, as
I had done elsewhere in the garden, when a guy said it was our turn and took our pix with my camera.
When processing, I thought about WB, but decided not to fix it. That's what it
looked like.
It was shot near the botanical gardens on your trip to Ft. Bragg, it seems.
Inside the Mendocino Botanical Garden. As many gardens do, they have a Festival of Lights for the holidays. A few pix
from 2023 here. <https://photos.app.goo.gl/ZDuQ5ocP3xNsQSdZ7> I suppose that it's less prepossessing than many others,
but it's so local, low key and intimate that we really enjoy it. Lots of local folks with their kids are there.
We went to a huge, high tech light and sound show in a forest outside Pitlochry, Scotland. Including videos shown in the
air on smoke/mist. Quite the production, but we don't need that again anytime soon, and will likely be in the Mendo
garden again next year for theirs.
Last year, we ended up there on Thanksgiving, by calendar misadventure, and had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner at
Trillium and ate at Luna Trattoria. So we did it again, on purpose, this year.
Judging by your jackets, appears colder than I would predict for the area.
I'd guess it was around 50º F. Those coats aren't designed for your kind of winter cold, but for ours. I guess I should
have worn my red one, though, for the Mr and Mrs. Claus look. 🙂
We still need to see a few shots from your extensive peregrinations
—-hopefully this year.
Sorta overwhelming. And, I am more interested in non-travelog shots than the ones I "should" be processing. I was
fascinated not just by the selfie shooters, but those who posed to take each others' pix. Example, we're in the
wonderful YSL gardens, and there are these women posing for each other against a blank wall. Lots of that sort.
Still, about 50 shots to come soon.
Just figured out that we were away from home for 86 nights this year, second
only to 2019's 92 nights.
