Most of the photos for the 3rd week of June were taken during a walk in the
centre of Alicante to look at the large statues called Hogueras, that are put
up in preparation for the midsummer celebration on June 24th, when they are
burned at midnight. There is something uniquely Spanish (and strange) about
investing all this effort into mounting quite impressive installations, just to
burn them a few days later. Of course, as with every walk in the city, there is
a generous sprinkling of people pictures too, along with an interesting Civil
War episode at the end of the walk. There are also landscapes and grapes seen
while cycling, and lovely Eri makes an appearance too.
