I've never been. I didn't get interested in that kind of jazz until the
last ten years or so. It has possibly been displaced to a degree by the
Iowa City Jazz Festival, which is serendipitous fun because unknown bands
can steal the festival. It's also eclectic, but not to everyone's taste.
Five or six years ago the headliner was Buddy Holly, not exactly a jazz
fixture (cf. "Rock n Roll Music" where there's probably a reference to Bix
"blowin' like a hurrican"). Regardless, that was a great concert. "Nickle
Creek" another time. Same thing. Define jazz real loose and you're OK.
