I'm intrigued by the "Hebrew National" sign in the background. Today,
"Hebrew National" is famous for the hot dogs. Very good hot dogs,
actually.
Hebrew National started out as a local New York City meat packer
supplying kosher deli meats. The sign probably belongs to a
delicatessen that sold that brand. Now a division of ConAgra, Hebrew
National still produces a full range of beef deli products - corned
beef, salami, pastrami, etc. - as well as hot dogs. I would imagine
that products that have a shorter shelf life or less commercial interest
than hot dogs don't get distributed as wide.
One of their products is "Beef Franks in a Blanket." I guess it just
would not do to call them "Pigs in a Blanket."
