This is actually a base-line item that plays in with multiple
decisions. In the wintertime, TBF (Time before Frozen) is greatly
reduced for batteries and cameras. A typical outing will exhaust one
battery per 90 minutes unless it's -10F, which reduces that to one per
60 minutes tops. For some electronics items, battery life does not
seem to be related to whether or not the camera is actually turned on.
For cold weather, the E-1 and E-3 are the best cameras in the kit.
However, when it gets super cold, I've found both the E-3 and the
GX85's IBIS to be slow and causes more problems than it fixes.

I do struggle with viewfinders in sunny weather. EVFs are mostly
worthless. I'm guessing what I'm getting most of the time. The E-1 and
E-3 viewfinders are best in this regards, but EVERYTHING pales in
comparison to an OM viewfinder with 2-series screen. Non-sunny or
indoors? EVF rules!

Ah, but do they see all the colors the way you want them to. I'd
compare cameras to film types in this regard. Velvia, Provia,
Ektachrome, Kodachrome...

The one guaranteed thing about influencers is that they MUST ALWAYS
recommend the "new shiny". And if it's been available for more than 6
months, it's junk.

While the A7S Mk2 is aimed more at video, it appears to be a stout
stills camera too. But in this day and age, I've really settled in
with 16-24MP as being about the ideal. If I was a commercial
photographer, the "R" would be beneficial from a "capabilities"
perspective, but for nearly every other use, I find it more overkill
than not. Usually. I think the difference between 10-12MP and 16-24MP
is probably about the same as 16-24MP to 50MP. Can you see the
difference in the editor? Yes. Can you see the difference in the final
output? Usually not. I think the main gain with pixel count increases
isn't in resolution or detail, but high contrast lines or edges are
rendered. The more pixels, the less color and brightness artifacts at
the edges. These are details not normally seen until sharpness is
cranked up. Higher pixel count = fewer halos.

I think so. That second shot is mind-bending great.

The lowly E-1 is almost the perfect "Facebook Camera" if there ever was one.

That's a good perspective to have. There are certainly cameras I've
had more fun with than others: OM-2S, E-1, Minolta A1 are actually at
the top of my list of fun cameras. The E-3 is a better camera than the
E-1 in almost every measurable regard, but is definitely not as fun of
a camera to use. The L1 is more fun to use than either the E-300 or
E-400. The Panasonic GX85 is a more fun camera to use than the Sony A7
Mk2. But when it comes to lenses, the Zuikos 35/2 is more fun than the
28/2.
