Pretty sad. But having a variety of professional musicians as friends, that
trend is also happening in the music industry. When you can get several
million streams of your song on Spotify and get a check for 34 cents,
there's a problem. Napster started the trend by facilitating the piracy on
a grand scale, and today's music consumer, like the photo consumer
mentioned in his post, thinks that all music should be free. Somehow, the
musician is expected to crank out albums, give them away, and not expect to
eat or pay bills. The only decent money is made on touring, and only if
you're at a high enough level to demand bigger ticket prices.
