Meandering is great fun. Interesting list.

Comments:

1. *OR and NV state route 140, from Denio NV to Lakeview OR.
Fantastic area. We mostly have used 140 to access the side roads. e.g. N from Denio Junction to Steens Mtn. an/or through the Alvord Desert. W through the Sheldon Wildlife Refuge backroads to Cedarville. N from Adel through the Warner Valley to Hart Mtn. NWR. Hwy 140 W from Lakeview to Klamath Falls is also very nice as is 395 past Lake Abert. (mostly dry now I hear which bodes ill for the bird migration) We were through Lakeview to OR31 in December. Beautiful in the snow.

2. *Interstate 70, 30 miles west of Green River UT to east of Salina

Added to the list :) We did part of this route May before last heading S to pick up our daughter from school. We turned off to Torrey. On the way back we took 191 N from Moab. So did both ends :).

3. *UT route 128 from Moab UT to interstate 70 at Cisco.

Added to the list :) This looks like a good one. :up.gif:

4. *US 395 from Spokane to John Day OR.

We frequent this route with many variations. If you continued 395 N from Lakeview you passed Lake Abert and also just N of Burns the place where they shot one of the wackos from the stand-off at Malheur NWR. A short side trip from John Day is the Painted Hills and JD Fossil Beds NM. Well worth the time to see all three units. From Pendelton we usually quit 395 for OR11 to Walla Walla and the Palouse or 730 from Umatilla up through the Wallula Gap. Incredible catastrophic geological forces at play only a few (relative) years ago if you are interested in that sort of thing.

So many backroads, so little time.

Mike
