The one displayed is a perfectly maintained 2CV fourgonette -read touring if you're the Bimmer guy, or simply van/estate/tourer/station wagon if anyone else ;-)

M. André Citroën's idea of the 2CV was that it should be light and affordable, could be operated by his secretary (macho guy in a way) and able to accomodate 4 people on pumpy roads even on rainy days.
The design still fits the bill in my so humble opinion ;-)

Well, I don't remember any problem dealing with a drop-down suspension so maybe I have misidentified it as a 2CV. His car looked like it was made of sheets of corrugated metal. Somewhat like this little Citroen truck <http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1312/5163513120_b7356f2e7d_o.jpg > but I don't remember it as looking like a truck either. It was a long, long time ago. All I can vouch for is small, pink and corrugated metal look.

The 2CV was probably much more of an achievement as you could lift its
body but the wheels would stubbornly remain as lead on the ground :-)

I didn't think it was a 2CV either but then I haven't seen one since the early 60s. One I remember quite distinctly. It was painted pink and
was
owned by Frank Zappa (the father of the other Frank Zappa you know
about).
That Frank Zappa was my high school physics teacher. On the last day of school in my senior year we (a bunch of guys) picked up his pink 2CV and
turned it sideways between two other cars in the faculty parking
lot. But
he didn't really deserve that. He was a great guy and a good teacher.

The certified French pedant in me claims this ain't a 2CV. Rather, an

Other than that, I'd like to join my voice to the chorus supporting

Thanks for the illustrated updates.
