Kermit was in a more photogenic mood yesterday morning - I put the 12-50
into macro mode and got down on his level and about 2" away from him. Nice
detail and nice bokeh.

I was in Chicago yesterday for Robie House duty. On my way back, I decided
to stop and grab a few photos - first one is of a soccer game between
several families in the Midway Plaisance (one of the remnants of the 1893
World's Fair left in town). The energy and color caught my eye. I was quite
a distance away, so I put the 75-300 on at f8 and held very still. EXIF
shows 179mm, so not too bad for a 360mm hand-held shot. I tried to be
inconspicuous and non-threatening since in this day and age, anybody taking
photos of kids is automatically painted as a predator...

And this shot is of a statue in the Midway as well that I've been driving by
for years without knowing who it was. So, I stopped. Turns out it's of
Thomas Masaryk, the founder and first president of Czechoslovakia. Chicago
has a large Czech population (my friend Jim Peterik is of Czech heritage),
so once I looked him up, it made sense. The statue was erected in the 1950's
according to the plaque on the base.

I found one that I had forgotten about from our trip to Tunica/Memphis a
couple of months back, so I'm going to cheat and include it here. It's an
abandoned vacation development called "Cottage Inn Luxury Chalets". Every
time we've driven by it, I laugh since my concept of "Luxury Chalet" isn't a
shoddy building on a flat corner lot along a highway in Tunica, MS. This
last time, I got a photo.

C&C encouraged. Enjoy!
