Thanks, Rick. I speak Spanish, not fluently. Tom speaks Spanglish and
lots of sign language. He always says if you can say "please", "thank
you", and count to ten, you can get along in any language!! A few people
spoke English, but not in the countryside! Cuban Spanish is the most
difficult to understand because they speak so fast and run everything
together. They are very patient, though, and are willing to slow down and
enunciate. They are usually so appreciative if any tourists even attempt
to speak Spanish to them.
