From the latest FAQ: "You’ll be able to clean a really dirty lens about 500 times. Why? Look at the inside of the Cap and you will see a foam pad filled with carbon. Twisting the cap back on after cleaning causes the two surfaces to rub together, carbon-to-carbon, and this recharges the carbon on the Cleaning Tip so it can be used many times."

I've not used mine in perhaps a year of more. I don't recall seeing the instructions to twist the cap for cleaning. But it has probably been there all along. My comment about using a new one was based on using an old one with somewhat imperfect results. Switching to a new one gave perfect cleaning. Perhaps I simply needed to twist the cap.

ps: I quoted from the LensPen FAQ. SensorKlear gets little mention these days. They're much more interested in selling their expensive sensor cleaning "system".

Absolutely agreed. The LensPen sensor cleaner is like magic compared
to anything else I've ever tried. Relatively inexpensive. If it gets
dirty itself throw it out and get another.

I think you can just wipe/scrape off, or some such, check the
instructions. The body is full of the active powder, which 'flows' out
through the pad.

Don't be afraid to put some pressure on it. If you blow off the loose
particles first it doesn't scratch.

Yup

OTOH, I've not needed it since going µ4/3. Panny's version of cleaning
seems much like Oly's, very effective.
