OK, here's what you do:
Remove the rubber grip on the focusing ring. Remove the several screws
that hold the distance ring to the front group. Unscrew the front
group. Turn the zoom to about 120mm and look through the oblong holes
in the body of the lens, just in front of the distance scale -- you
should see a "-" screw made of brass that's likely blackened with age.
Turn it clockwise to tighten. Reassemble and
reset focus. Easy!

Since you're not disturbing the zoom's focus, only the infinity focus,
it's much easier. Once it's largely back together, you'd just turn the
front group until the lens focuses properly on a known good body (with
split image finder, pointed at something several miles away). Then
insert the screws with the distance ring at the infinity mark.

Zoom creep is easy to fix, I'd have to remove
the rubber grip to remind myself if the nylon
screw is under the copper bit or something
else, its been so long since I've fixed one.
