A few times a year, our friends Carmen and Hilarión invite us to their country
house in Almoradí, about 60 km from here, for a day of friendship, food and
general happiness. Today was such a day. We were there for about 7 hours and
enjoyed every minute. This is quality of life on so many levels:

Most of the food is local, and much of it is literally picked from the
neighbour's field. The artichokes are so tender that you can eat them raw in a
salad. The rice made by Hilarión beats any Michelin-star restaurant. The only
fly in the ointment is that I had to severely ration the wine intake given the
drive home in the evening.
