If you click on the Open button on the bottom of ACR, to go into PS, stuff will
be written to the JPEG, so that, forever
after, double clicking on it anywhere or otherwise trying to open it will open
it in PS. This may or may not bother you.
Hold down Alt while clicking Open leaves the original JPEG unchanged.

I assume you mean better than PS, as opposed to better than anything?
