The main purpose nowadays is to get the students from behind their
computers, wii's, nintendos, iPhones and to get them look at the real
physical world :)
Fleeing belgian climate in early spring is a good purpose as well.
Discussing what we see amongst each other in real life is something we
almost never get to do in class anymore. And we invited a local writer to
show us around in Lisbon, and he had a very critical stance towards the
"posh trained fit well dressed student architect". Very refreshing!
And of course: to enjoy something 'cultural' as a group. But it is as much
a social event.
