Thanks, Bob, for doing the translation. I thought Chris was using his usual
high-brow English and I wasn't cultured enough to figure out what he was
saying.

Dollywood is the big theme park. Gatlinburg is nothing but tourist trap.
Cades Cove is a parade.

That said, there are pockets of the park which are very nice to go.
Cataloochee is one of them. I absolutely love it there. Also, my other
haunt is to go on up to Clingman's dome and then hike the trail to Andrew's
Bald. East of Gatlinburg, is two spots very worthy of going to. Ramsey
Falls is a must do hike. (Take 321 to the east and then turn off at
Greenbrier Rd). Do this in the afternoon and time it for a return right as
it is getting too dark to hike safely, minus a few minutes for safety-sake.
The falls faces to the west so the setting sun will shine on it. East of
there, is the "Cosby Corner". Look where 321 and 32 meets. Turn right. Go
just past the bend then go up Cosby Park Rd. Some of the best hiking in the
park is right there.

BTW, in a few years there will be a total eclipse which will pass right
over the park.

:)

In recent years, we've migrated from going to that area and changed to
Colorado. Primary reason is that we got tired of camping in the rain. The
other reason is that the Porcupine Mountains in the UP are very similar to
the Smoky Mountains, only smaller. It's a whole lot closer.
