10 year life on a Li-ion battery is amazing. I consider 5-6 years to be
good. :-)
I just recently had to replace the original battery on the 5D after
5-1/2 years. It still worked but its capacity had dropped to 1/2 or
maybe only 1/3 of a new battery. The Energizer clone I purchased as a
spare shortly after I bought the camera is still going. But it will not
surprise me if it also starts to weaken. The drop in capacity of the
Canon battery seemed to take place almost overnight.
