LinkedIn is a lot more targeted for business circles than Google+, so
even though other sites come and go, the more targeted ones like
LinkedIn will be around a bit longer.

As someone else has already mentioned, you will also find a lot of
mining comany employee's use LinkedIn here in Australia to keep
track of each other for business reasons. I also use it to stay in touch
with other ex mil people.
