Seems like you and I need to work on our technique, Chuck, 'cos everybody
else can get exposure right first time. 

How does it go? "f/8.2976 and be there"?

The statement below is only correct for perfectly exposed images.  It
ignores the fact that shooting raw typically gives us another stop at the
high and low ends of the brightness scale to atone for our sins of exposure.

Despite fancy meters, gray cards and 50 years of experience I still make
loads of exposure errors.  That's why I shoot raw.
