And I have just been watching two of them on the peanut feeder, Chris! One
is a regular, though infrequent visitor, but I have never seen two before.
We must be close to the northern limit for GSW - but far beyond the limit
for LSW.

But the reason for contacting you is the Dr Flash UK seminar next month.
Having not been able to find a mutually suitable day to meet Chuck in
Edinburgh or Glasgow, the plan is for me to come down for the weekend of
9/10 July, meeting him in Central London on the Saturday. Chuck has an
interest in visiting the British Museum, and I have also proposed showing
him some of the sights between Blackfriars and London Bridges - St Pauls,
Globe Theatre and Borough Market spring to mind, and it will be pure
happenstance if we discover a well-stocked whisky and wine emporium anywhere
near there. Such as Vinopolis!

I know that your availability is open to doubt, but it looks like we will be
wandering the streets for a fair part of the day, and no doubt seeking
refreshments too, so if you find yourself at a loose end we would both
appreciate seeing you. Call me on 07771 602190 on the day if anything turns
up (or call on any other day, of course). I will return to Esher with Chuck
(to make sure he gets home!), pop up to St Neots to visit my Mum, and return
to London for the Inverness sleeper on Sunday evening. That means that Chuck
might also be available on Sunday if that is better for you.

>From the response on-list, it seems that a ZA convention is not on the cards
this time round.

Best

Piers

Sounds great, Moose.

We are on a break in Wales, staying in. strange little cottage next to the
Brecon-Monmouth canal. Yesterday, while driving along a very narrow lane
flanked with high hedges, a Greater Spotted Woodpecker flew out in front for
a few seconds before alighting on a telegraph pole. We stopped a watched,
in wonder on my part as I had never seen one in the wild before. I didn't
attempt to get my camera out of the back .

Chris
