All TV (including digital HDTV) are in 25/30fps interlace format, that is
50/60 field per second. I convert tones of TV files, I know very well that
25 or 30fps progressive will not work well. The problem can be easily seen
on motion planning and actually it happen with any fast moving objects but
most people just don't see it.

I think Blu-ray do support interlace:

On the other hand I'm not interested in Blu-ray, all media box support H.264
1080i format, the media box plays video and TV files with excellent quality.
With X264 compression I can put one hour of full HD video on a standard DVD
with no noticeable loss in quality and you can play on any due core computer
too.

For AF tracking, I have no idea how the G3 is better but when taking video I
fix the focus before each movie clip. I don't do fast motion but will do
lots of plannings.
