Thanks, John.  I should mention that flower photos don't come without 
problems.  An hour or so after I posted this photo, I felt something on my 
leg, and saw what appeared to be a small insect about 2mm in dia.  It was 
not until I pulled it off my hairy leg that I saw small legs and realized it 
was a very small tick.  I'm sure I got him when I stepped into the lily bed 
to get the best angle for this photo.

The bite site has continued to look more inflamed, so today, I showed it to 
my doctor who put me on a round of antibiotics.
