Being a guy who always seeks the truth...the first thing I learned when I
emigrated to the West was to check who sponsored the article/book/information
source in question.
Fact largely unknown/ignored by western researchers blinded by the green stuff
that someone waved in front of their faces is that Bulgaria was the only
country that actually saved its jewish population. There were 70000 jews in BG
and not even one of them got extradited to the nazi camps.
I dont remember a story about jewish friends saved by my family, but I do
remember Granma telling me ( as if it werent a big deal) how they hid at two
different times jewish families passing through Bulgaria with which they did
not how to communicate. Me so proud...
I am also proud of the stance of the Bulgarian government at the time. This
was not matter of politics or economics, and we did not turn any ships with
refugees away...you know what I mean.
Nathan, I am really happy for the fact that relatives of yours were able to
escape the horror...
