Ah yes, that's possibly the reason I flipped through quickly, finding
nothing to engage me. The LX3 isn't producing the same sort of images as
the M-thingie and Nathan isn't compensating in processing to give the
same sort of end result.

1. Why not?
  a. Why not forgive them?
and/or
  b. Why do they need to know?
and
  c. Why is it your duty to do so?

2. Forgive them for what?
  a. For being young? Hardly their fault.
  b. For being innocent? Hardly their fault.
  c. For being ignorant? Hardly their fault.

They will, after all soon enough grow out of a & b, and a significant
subset even out of c.

  d. For being young, shiny, excited and full of enthusiasm - and
reminding someone that he is far from any of that?

I'm willing to bet that you were young once, and not unlikely bright and
shining, at least at times. Still haven't forgiven yourself for such a
faux pas? ;-)

As one of grandfatherly age, I quite like small children - in small,
infrequent doses. Nowadays, they come with keepers who take care of
their less appealing needs and encourage then to interact with me in
ways I enjoy. And then, either I or they go away.

If things in Oz are anything like here, I'd think you'd like to come
upon cute children and mug and play around with them. Old men cozying up
to their children raises all sorts of anxiety in many parents. Yet
another way to sow anxiety and discomfort while being apparently
innocuous. Oh, that's right, the innocuous part wouldn't appeal. :-)
