The history lesson in the article shows that this is dead on. Back in the
'70s and '80s, everybody and their dog bought SLRs, even though most owners
couldn't figure out how to turn them on or load a roll of film--much less
actually use them. It didn't help that the average buyer saved $50 by buying
a coke-bottle zoom lens from Outer-Bunga Bunga.
The m43 concept (and variants) won't address the needs of Joe Sixpack until
it has no interchangeable lenses and is totally "Stupid-Proof".
