Not sure if it will even be Iowa....

Regardless, it is more than just the name on the faceplate of the camera.
I'd just like to shoot that setup for the IQ and handling.

Frankly, it's all just a pipe-dream anyway. I was just going through the
exercise wondering if I could make even a hint of a justification to the
CDFO over it. It's nice to know that over 30 weddings the amortized cost
would be $367 per wedding and then it would have some residual
value--probably in the neighborhood of 50% of purchase price.

This brings up another what-if. What if I got a used Leica film setup and
budgeted $2500 for it. Thats $83 per wedding. Totally loaded cost for
film, development and scanning is $21 per roll and I'd shoot an average of
10 rolls for $210 in consumable costs per wedding. However, instead of
front-loading the costs, this would be back-loaded dependent upon the sales
of the premium package. Residual value of my $2500 initial investment would
remain about $2500. The increase of $210 in consumables for film shooting is
already covered by my higher package price for film. It's a profit center
for me, already. The advantage of going this route is that not only is the
initial investment reasonable, but the residual remains high--I can bail out
at any time and not lose a dime. I get the marketability and the image
"look" but without the burden of carrying the note.

Hmm. Strategy. I present to the CDFO the M9 and what it would mean to the
wedding photography business. There is no way in the world that it's going
to fly. But after that sticker shock, I present the option of a $2500
investment in Leica gear. However, I know that she'd rather have me 100%
digital if at all possible and I know how she feels about spending a bit
extra to get the right gear. Hmm. Whatever I ask for is going to get the
evil eye, so I might as well shoot for the moon.

:)

NEWSFLASH: Iowa photographer found in alley with a camera imprint in the
skull. Details at ten.
