Ditto here.
I'm using the Vivitar 285HV flashes on the E-1 and A1 exactly the same way
with the Ultrabounce. Just like the Omnibounce it splatters light
everywhere and really relies on lowish ceilings to be consistent. Otherwise,
it's just another point-source of light. On a good day, it sucks out two
stops of light from the flash. Fine for fill, lousy for main. You eat up
sets of batteries in a hurry.
I've used my friend's F50R and a Metz dedicated flash. Man-o-man, life is
sweet with that equipment on the E-system. No chimping required--it nails
it. But for $500 per flash, it better. At $500, it's awefully difficult to
convince the CDFO I need it when she sees the results of my shots with the
not-so-fancy flashes.
It sucks to be good.
