Hi Frank,

Since you are wondering, I'll tell you.

With the OM's and with the E-1 without the vertical grip I always shot
right hand side facing don. So I do Opposite to you. In this type of
shooting I hold the camera mainly with my right hand and with my left
hand around the lens. I place my right hand so that I trigger the
shutter with my thumb. The little finger and on the OM's even the ring
finger fall around the bottom plate of the body. It gives you more
possibilities to brace your right arm to your body to allow longer
shutter speeds without motion blur. For me it really works fine. Come to
think of it, I prefer this position of the camera probably also because
I always use my left eye to look through the viewfinder.

With the E-1 with grip attached I turn the camera counterclockwise so
the right hand side faces up. The whole camera works just the same as in
normal landscape position.

I am curious too as to which way other people hold teir cameras when
shooting vertical.
