Yup, I have seen it happen, as evidenced by the despair on the face of the
friend who had a RAID array (installed by his son as a "fire it up and
forget it" backup solution) do precisely what it was designed to do... it
duplicated from one HD to the other the corrupted file alllocation table.  I
have to say that by the time he told me the sorry tale, he had progressed to
the sanguine level.  Having lost many GB of image data, what else to do but
get out with a camera and replace them!
