Ali,

Both Heliopan and B+W make special wide angle filters. They feature an
oversized filter with a step ring built in (so for example the front of the
filter might be a 72mm diameter while the back is a 55mm). Of course you can
do this yourself with a 72mm standard filter and a 55mm>72mm step ring.
Doing it the latter way will most likely save a lot of money and be less
restricting in when you can use the filter. If I recall correctly Walt had a
set of 87mm filters that he used on everything with appropriate step rings.
This way you can buy a filter once instead of having dedicated sets needed
with every different size lens.

Any good brand of filter is going to be fine most likely (Hoya, Heliopan,
B+W). All three make slim versions of most of their filters. Be aware that
slim filters often don't have front threads so stacking more than one is
impossible, also your original lens cap probably won't attach either.

HTH, Dan S.

Which ND filter (brand and type) would work best with a wide angle lens? Are
there "slim" ND filters available?
