Moose,

Your knowledge and advice are a relief... I'm always careful with new  
gear when I'm unfamiliar with the technology.

Your description of the monaural video connector matches what I have  
for the little Canon. The Canon does record audio, too, and the  
manual states that it will output both a video and an audio signal.

So, basically, with the E-1 I'm dealing on the camera side with a  
1/8" TRS connector carrying a composite video signal, and as long as  
the other end is correctly connected to feed said signal to a  
composite video monitor or an equivalent, it's all safe?

That makes it a lot easier. ;-)
