Thanks for all the suggestions.  I think there's a good chance that the 
housing is ABS so I may try some ABS pipe cement first after doing a 
test on non-mating surfaces.  If that doesn't work maybe some J-B Weld. 
  For either fix I'll try to add some reenforcement.
