Just to tag on. Sometimes people think that they are seeing a  
conversion when they have double clicked on the raw thumbnail. All  
they are seeing is Adobe's reading and display of the raw file for  
the purpose of doing any editing that ACR allows. Once you have made  
any changes and selected your save options it is then that the file  
is converted.
