AG & Chuck,

I think Chuck is giving you some pretty poor advice here. Those Kit
tools are fine for the money, and for most folks, but they are of lower
quality and don't perform as well as the real pro tools. (Which DON'T
come with the truck.) There is no way you can get professional results
with the kit tools. They are fine for most hobbyists and consumers, but
if you really want to be a pro, you will need the pro models, they just
plain out perform the kit models.

I was hoping I wouldn't be the only one to come back to photography
and say than now I know why my E-1 photos lack the quality I was sure
they would have. It's clearly not the fault of the photographer. The
simple straightforward Kodak (American) sensor doesn't understand the
finer more subtle points of artistic communication and removed so much
of what was in the scene. Why even the four thirds Leica can tell when
the blue jeans should be purple.

A tandem seating with a 2-stroke engine. For reverse, you started the
engine running in the other direction. The crazy thing was that it
would
run just as fast in reverse as it would forward. We had a guy who
worked in
the same shop as I did, who ran it down the Convair freeway in reverse
at 70
mph. He was racing a German Lloyd and beat him. There are a couple of
images at:

<http://www.pbase.com/pelaughlin/carpix>

These images are just some that I picked up off the net several years
ago.
I did include a picture of an Isetta. That front entry on the Isetta
could
be a problem. A parking lot attendant in FT. Worth had to sit in the
car
until the owner returned, because he nosed it in to a brick wall and
could
not find reverse and couldn't open the door.

Hello Lukasz,

Very well done, looks like a very nice region. I like them all, but I
favour the "people images". I used to take a tripod with me on
holidays, but almost never used it. I think the difference between the
two styles (at least for me) is that once I am setting up the tripod
for that "wonderfull image" the magic is broken. I feel much better
shooting in a "loose and intuitive" style. That's why I might like
IS... The other thing is that if I go through my pictures, I like the
ones with a 40mm - 100mm focal length best. And now with the E-1, my
50mm f2 practically lived on it (very versatile lens: compact, macro +
portrait and f2) but now I'm practicing with the lumix 25mm which is a
VERY nice lens which oly should have produced from the beginning. I am
waiting for a macro front lens for this one to arrive, since that's my
only gripe about the lumix: it does not focus close enough...

Please continue the good work!

His circuit diagram, no -- but Googling the words "camera lightning
detector" popped up one other (again and again and again -- seems
everybody on the Web has referenced this site):

      http://www.solorb.com/elect/lightning/

Other than that, I've got some encyclopedias of electronics which might
have something. I'll take a quick spelunk through 'em later today.

Just a thought: If this is sensitive enough to be triggered by a
lightning
flash, then it should also be possible to activate it by a flashgun in
daylight - right?

If that is so, then this might be a very nice tool in the field when
using
off camera flash.

But it's easier and cheaper to use an optical slave shoe which you can
pick up for about $10-12.

Or, for better range and shooting around corners use a radio slave.

Range of these things is pretty variable but you can generally count on
at least 30-40 feet and I have one that will reach to 150. You can also

apply AG's antenna mod for more :-)

This isn't really about what is easy, I have several optical slaves and
could use them. This is all about nerdiness.

Don't think I've got the software to do it unfortunately. There was a
disc with the Transcend card I was using but a) I can't find it and
b) it's prolly only got non-Mac recovery software on it anyway.
Besides there are ethical problems with that of course. Aside from
the fact that I was their guest and they were letting me have a first
look, there was the promise of a trip to Sydney for the launch. (er,
that is ethics isn't it?).

And of course -

The other day, upon the stair
I met a man who wasn't there.
He wasn't there again today.
I wish to God he'd go away.

(Lear, Belloc, someone like that).

AA Milne's Christopher Robin had a nice one:

'Halfway down the stairs
Is a stair I sit.
There isn't any stair
Quite like.
It.
I'm not at the bottom.
I'm not at the top;
So, this is the stair
Where I always stop.'
