Very impressive, David!

Speculative responses:

"Ditch lines" means the engraved 'grips' on the shutter release

"Meter" means the pointer on the frame counter

Last night I asked Olympus, via their www site the same question I asked
below. And got the following reply. Hows that for quick service?

Does anyone know what the "meter" is on this camera? Or what "ditch lines"
are?

thanks
David

"Dear Mr. Carter,
Thank you for your e-mail concerning your camera.
While appreciating your interest, it is not clear from those pictures if
your camera is genuine Sanko Shoji Pen or a genuine Pen Original.
Since it is possible to replace the cover of those camera.
The genuine Sanko Shoji Pen and the Pen original has following features on
the top of those cameras.
*If the hand of the meter is gold, it is Sanko Shoji Pen.
But if it is silver, it will be Pen original.
*You can also identify with the mark beside the external flash shoe.
With the Sanko Shoji Pen, the stick does not go through the circle.
The stick goes through the circle with the Pen Original's mark.
*The 3 ditch lines above the serial number will be horizontal
in the Sanko Shoji Pen, but it will be vertical in the Pen original.
