Make certain that none of the screws have backed out of the holes. If
someone twisted the body trying to get a heavy tripod mounted lens
leveled the lens release notch might have been damaged (I've seen
several damaged ones but usually the lens won't lock in place). The
only thing I've personally experienced making it hard to turn the lens
is gunk on the mount. Carefully wiping the mount has solved that.
