This is another one I just don't get. I've had a 5D for some time, and
can't recall ever really thinking it is pretty or ugly. It's shaped
pretty much like other contemporary DSLRs. With the grip strap I have on
it, I pick it up, hold it comfortably and find theat the limit to what I
can choot is almost almost limited by my capabilities, rather than the
camera. Pretty? Ugly? Feh!

I like the black finish 'cause it is less conspicuous than silver or a
bright color. I would MUCH prefer for it to be smaller and lighter than
for any cosmetic appearance change. I don't much like the silver color
of the 300D, but I would take it in less than a second if ti took images
as good as the 5D at its smaller size and lower weight.

As to the F2, I have an F2a, and I don't think it is ugly. It rather
directly conveys the qualities of solidity and professional capabilities
in the styling vernacular of the times. What's wrong with that? Like
almost all (D)SLRs, its overall shape and size are dictated by what's in
it. And the sheer weight and the mechanical mirror AND aperture lock
make it a superior camera for some tripod work than its contemporary OMs
and most other competitors.

I do happen to like the looks of the single digit OMs and the OMPC -
well, its actually hard to separate size from looks, I like small and
light. But the looks are a bonus, not a reason to buy or not buy them.

Am I double jointed or something like that and don't know it? I have
never had any difficulty taking vertical shots with any DSLR with a
pentaprism viewfinder that I've used. I dislike anything that adds size
and/or weight to provide a separate set of controls for vertical shooting.
