Actually I didn't have the ND4X on it, and the last problem was shooting the 
moon while it was still daylight and it was cool, not really cold, but the 
lens and I may have a different idea of cold.

Moose said that the glass was part of the equation, so I put it in today, 
though it was warm enough I only had a light long sleeve shirt on (pulling 
Oaks from between blood thirsty roses and hidden blackberries).

Today the focus was just fine, even with the 2 X Vivitar Tele/macro.

soon I will be able to get a full moon at night, to compare to the Seimar 
500 I was using.

I looked on Ebay and didn't see and Sigma 22.5 filters. They come in a 
clear?
Or what is the best suggestion for shooting the moon and shooting hawks and 
other birds?
