AG,
Enough already; I can only afford to wet my pants laughing once
a day.

Subject: [OM] Point of entertainment

I'm sorry, but I've been rather entertained reading through a couple
other forums on deep pee review lately. One of my favorite threads
had to do with a blurry picture taken with THE top-selling Brand-X
with an image-stabilized lens.

The responses are priceless. The quotes are slightly paraphrased and
my thoughts are in ().

1. "You have to use the center focus point." (then why does the
camera have so many?)

2. "You need to manually focus as the AF isn't always accurate." (oh,
but it's sooo fast)

3. "It was camera shake. You need to use at least 1/250 to shoot it
at 17mm" (excuse me? What happened to the image-stabilized lens?)

4. "Shutter shake." (yeah, that I believe since you can hear it a
kilometer away)

5. "The camera is too light, heavier cameras are more stable."
(insert jaw dropping on floor)

6. "DSLRs are always blurry because of the AA filter." (Ah, so now
we understand the intellect of the average buyer of this particular
camera)

7. "That lens is a dog, you should have gotten the xx-xx/x instead."
(So that manufacturer has a reputation for selling trashy lenses?)

8. "No, that lens is great, the xx-xx/x the previous poster
recommended is the dog!" (Oh, great, so more than one lens is trash)

9. "I tried out a friend's L-lens, it wasn't any better." (Hmm, so
we might have something in common here, but what is it?)

10. "That lens needs to be stopped down to F5.6 before it's sharp."
(So does that mean I can't use the green square?)

11. "That lens isn't sharp until F8." (must be a variance between
samples)

12. "The flash fired before the rest of the exposure--it's double
exposed with the flash and ambient light." (back to the camera shake
theory, I see)

13. "Yeah, my lens is the same way. I have to use ISO 400 as a
minimum just so I can get the images sharp enough--at least it's
clean." (Oh, you gotta try ISO 6400 so you can shoot at F64 and get
EVERTHING in focus!)

13. "We determined it was the camera that was bad." (Oh, so was it
misfocusing or was the AA filter seperating?)

14. "We determined the camera was ok. since the other camera did the
same thing." (id10t error?)

15. "I sharpened the image, everything is fine now." (I'm choking on
my pizza)

16. "We told you that images in RAW are unsharpened." (medic!)

AG
