I've been surprised that there has been no competition to the Sony
DSC-R1 <http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/sonydscr1/> Looks like a great
concept but is hampered by having a low res EVF rather than an SLR
design. This would seem to be right up Oly's alley with their experience
in cameras like the iS-Series. Ever since the DSC-R1 appeared I've
wondered if there is a pro market to be served with a pair of fixed lens
cameras.

I can't afford two 5D's but you see lots of pros covering events such as
weddings with two bodies on their person at all times. One with a 28-70
or 24-105 lens mounted and the other with a 70-200 or similar. This
obviates the need to change lenses and gives near instant backup should
one camera fail.

I envision a fixed lens E-thing that comes in two models. One with a
12-60mm lens (24-120 equivalent like the DSC-R1) and the other with a
35-135mm lens (70-270 equivalent). The first would be attractive to
advanced amateurs and a pro would own and carry both of these at the
same time. Occasional need for shorter or longer lenses could be
handled by the same type of auxiliary lenses as were provided for the
iS-Series.

I would find such a camera even more attractive if it had a high
resolution EVF such as 1024x768. I love the live view of my A1 and its
ability to switch to B&W and amplify the image under very low light.
But the low res EVF is essentially useless.
