Isn't Olympus America a wholly owned subsidiary of
Olympus Corp?  As such, I doubt they have much say in
what does/doesn't get imported.  I think a technical
issue like you mention or a supply issue (new CCD
sensor, perhaps) is temporarily limiting the release
to European markets.  If I recall the press release
correctly, it will also not be available in Japan.
