I think in this context it is a shortened "volunteer".  The Tennessee
Volunteers is the name for the school team.

Oh, either:

* 75% of a vole, or
* a vol without a period, or
* a once-obscure heraldic symbol consisting of a pair of outstretched,
usually 
plumed bird's wings, which are connected together at their shoulders
without 
having any bird's body in the middle.
