If it is for local paper, I doubt the readers will care much about medium
format and Voigtlander. Most are going from P&S film to P&S digital...in which
case digital won a long time ago. Those who use SLR can argue the merits of
film vs. digital, but I use digital with Fuji S2, which has long beaten film in
my opinion, but Fuji makes a good sensor. But I think the MF domain is still
film...so I guess it depends on your target audience and their use.

One thing's for sure thought, hardly anyone in a "local" paper will shoot MF or
Voightlander, so your response maybe a bit more on the "advanced" side

I need a little bit of help. In our local flickr group
someone brought up the fact that our local paper wants
to do a story on digital vs. analog. Anyhow the person
posting this topic wanted suggestions, so I posted
this:

"Film allows more latitude....meaning you could make a
mistake and it would be more forgiving. Digital is
like slide film...there isnt much margin for error.
Film has a completely different feel to it, I think
because those old classic camera's had personality
unlike today's ultra gizmodic wonders. Look at that
beauty medium format Calanan used - you cant compare
it to anything you buy today. Also with older camera's
you had to think....you didnt have an LCD panel to
chimp off. People want LIVE PREVIEW built-in to todays
digital camera's so they can see what they are
shooting....talk about impersonal! I could go on and
on. I dont think film will totally go away. There are
manufacturers still like Cosina/Voigtlander who
produce incredible film camera's with Leica class
lenses...the market is still alive! OH and 1 more
thing....How long will a hard drive last? How many
hard drives or backup devices will people to need to
store their photo's. Even CD's and DVD's dont last
4-ever! Negatives and Slide Film can stay good a long
long time! "
