I think you'll find that he was actually far better known in the US than
in Australia. I think he's become better known there in the last few
years but he's been well known here for his TV shows for many years. I
once mentioned him in an email to an OZ listee two or three years ago
and he had never heard of him. I assumed the shows we were seeing were
second runs after first airing in OZ. But I don't think now that was
the case.
What an unluckey break. A big ray can easily do you a lot of damage but
usually to a foot or leg or maybe an arm. Painful, maybe debilitating
but you don't think about the possibility of a bone knife to the heart.
